Madison Mom Walks & Baby Playdates | Sun & Stars Community Meetups

These weekly mom meetups and stroller walks take place at parks across Madison, Monona, Middleton, Verona, and Waunakee.

Motherhood can feel a little lonely sometimes — especially in the early days. Sun & Stars Mom Walks + Park Playdates were created as a simple way for moms to get outside, meet other parents, and build real connections in the Madison area.

Whether you’re expecting, adjusting to life with a newborn, or chasing a busy toddler around the playground, you’re warmly invited to join us.

These casual gatherings are designed to be low-pressure, welcoming, and supportive. Come as you are, stay as long as you'd like, and enjoy time outdoors with other families who are in a similar season of life.

  • Each meetup is a relaxed mix of an optional stroller walk, playground time, and chatting with other moms.

We’ll gather at the park and spend time getting to know each other while babies lounge on blankets, toddlers explore the playground, and moms connect.

For those who would like to move a bit, an optional stroller walk may happen during the meetup — but it’s completely optional.

There’s no formal agenda. Just fresh air, conversation, and community.

  • These meetups are open to:

    • expecting mama (bellies welcome!)

    • moms with newborns and young babies

    • moms with toddlers and little ones

You’ll likely meet a mix of moms who are newly postpartum, navigating the early months of motherhood, or looking for community while raising little ones.

Rachael, the founder of Sun & Stars Birth Services, hosts these gatherings because she wants mamas to have a outdoor outlet for littles to be littles and moms to yap and connect!

  • Mom Walks + Park Playdates take place on Tuesday mornings from 10:00–11:30 AM at parks around the Madison area, including Monona, Middleton, Verona, Waunakee, and downtown Madison.

Locations rotate so families across the area can join when it's convenient.

Feel free to travel with us : )

  • To keep things comfortable, you may want to bring:

    • sunscreen/bug spray

    • water

    • a cozy blanket for babies

    • snacks for yourself or your little ones

    • your favorite coffee

    • hats for sunny days

During summer months, some parks have splash pads nearby. While the meetup itself stays in the main park area, you may want to bring swimsuits if you plan to explore the splash pad afterward.

  • Most moms arrive sometime between 10:00–10:15 AM and look for the group near the playground or a picnic blanket. Rachael, the founder of Sun & Stars, will be there to welcome you and help introduce you to other moms.

Some parents bring newborns in carriers or strollers, while toddlers often head straight for the playground. Babies lounge on blankets, parents chat, and the group naturally shifts between walking, playing, and relaxing together.

There’s no pressure to stay the entire time. Some families pop in for a quick hello, while others stay the full morning.

You don’t need to know anyone beforehand — many moms come for the first time on their own.

Just bring yourself, your little one, and whatever helps you enjoy a relaxed morning outside.

  • We love pets, but to keep the environment comfortable for babies and toddlers, please leave the pets at home.

Where we meet

  • A favorite on Madison’s west side, McKee Farms Park offers a large playground, open green space, and an easy walking path perfect for optional stroller walks. In the warmer months, families often enjoy the splash pad nearby after the meetup. Restrooms and picnic areas make it a comfortable spot to relax while toddlers play and babies lounge on blankets.

  • Located near downtown Madison, Tenney Park is a beautiful lakeside park with stroller-friendly walking paths, a playground, and scenic views of Lake Mendota. It’s a lovely place to enjoy a relaxed walk and connect with other families while toddlers explore the playground and babies enjoy the fresh air.

  • Centennial Park is a spacious and family-friendly park in Waunakee featuring a playground, splash pad in the summer, open grassy areas, and restrooms nearby. It’s a great gathering spot for families on the north side of Madison looking to enjoy a relaxed morning outside with plenty of room for little ones to move and play.

  • Lakeview Park in Middleton is a welcoming neighborhood park with a playground, splash pad during the summer months, and wide open lawns perfect for picnic blankets and baby hangouts. With shaded areas and a casual walking loop, it’s a comfortable place for families to gather, chat, and enjoy time outdoors together.

  • Dream Park at Winnequah Park in Monona is one of the most beloved playgrounds in the Madison area. Its large castle-style play structure is a destination for families with toddlers, while the surrounding green space and nearby lagoon make it a beautiful place to gather. With restrooms, walking paths, and plenty of space to spread out blankets, it’s a perfect spot for a relaxed morning meetup.
